The Night Sky for the Week of 11-23-25

This week’s sky highlights include interstellar Comet 3I/ATLAS rising in the pre-dawn east, shining around 10th magnitude and best seen with 6-inch or larger telescopes. Orion becomes prominent in the evening, with Betelgeuse and Rigel trading heights based on latitude. Vega and Lyra remain bright in the west, with Epsilon Lyrae’s double-double a rewarding small-scope target. The Moon progresses from crescent to first quarter, passing through Capricornus toward Aquarius, offering excellent views of lunar features at the terminator. Jupiter dominates the evening eastern sky, Saturn’s rings reach their thinnest edge-on view, and Mercury emerges near Venus before sunrise. https://skyandtelescope.org/astronomy-news/observing-news/this-weeks-sky-at-a-glance-november-21-30/
