The Night Sky for the Week of 10-4-26

This week’s sky highlights include Saturn reaching opposition on October 3–4, with its rings brightening from the Seeliger effect. Supernova 2026aaiv in NGC 7331 continues fading, now near magnitude 12.9. Algol dips in brightness on October 2, and the Moon will occult Jupiter on October 6 for parts of North America. The Moon passes Mars and Jupiter October 4–7 and also aligns with the Beehive Cluster. Evening skies feature the Milky Way arching overhead, Cassiopeia standing on end, and the Great Square of Pegasus rising.
