The Night Sky for the Week of 10-18-26

This week’s sky highlights feature the Moon moving through Sagittarius, past the Teapot, and reaching full on the night of October 25. Early mornings show a striking lineup of Mars, Jupiter, and Regulus in the southeast, which will shorten as the planets approach conjunction in November. The Orionid meteor shower peaks around October 21–22 and is best viewed a few hours before dawn after the Moon sets. Saturn shines in the evening sky near the Moon on multiple nights, while Altair, Fomalhaut, and Arcturus provide seasonal markers. Jupiter, Saturn, and Mars are excellent for viewing, and Uranus and Neptune are visible through telescopes. https://skyandtelescope.org/astronomy-news/observing-news/this-weeks-sky-at-a-glance-october-16-25/
