The Night Sky for the Week of 10-12-25

This week’s sky offers highlights from October 10–19. Cassiopeia stands high in the northeast, while the Little Dipper’s visibility gauges light pollution. Jupiter dominates late-night skies with multiple double-shadow events from its moons, especially Io, Europa, and Ganymede. The Moon visits Gemini, Pollux, and Jupiter during early dawn, forming striking alignments. Watch Deneb replace Vega at the zenith, Saturn near the Great Square of Pegasus, and Ceres in binocular view. Mercury and Mars appear in close conjunction on the 18th, and Venus shines with the thin crescent Moon on the 19th. Orionids begin ramping up toward their October 22 peak. https://skyandtelescope.org/astronomy-news/observing-news/this-weeks-sky-at-a-glance-october-10-19/
