One interesting myth surrounding Aquarius is that the constellation's water carrier represents Ganymede, a beautiful Phrygian youth. Ganymede was the son of Tros, the king of Troy, and he caught the eye of Zeus while tending to his father's flocks on Mount Ida. Zeus fell in love with Ganymede and took him away to the heavens, where he served as the cupbearer to the gods.
